As the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games approach, sports enthusiasts around the world are gearing up to watch top athletes perform: Apple Watch owners can utilize dozens of different features to engage in various workouts, catering to both professional and amateur athletes.
Apple Watch offers Olympic-level activity options
The Activity app on Apple Watch provides a fun and motivating system to track your daily movement, exercise, and standing goals.
You can share activities with friends, participate in challenges, and earn various awards while using the app. Use the Trends feature to compare your activity over the past 90 days with previous periods to track long-term progress.
Apple Watch helps you practice many Olympic sports like running, cycling, and swimming, enabling you to train like professional athletes.
Here are some activities you can do:
- Running: Offers detailed measurements such as vertical oscillation, stride length, and ground contact time. You can create custom workouts and receive pace alerts.
- Cycling: Compatible with Bluetooth-enabled cycling accessories. It can measure power and cadence. It can even show your Functional Threshold Power (FTP).
- Swimming: Equipped with features like lap counting, average pace tracking, and stroke type detection.
- Two new features for the Apple Weather app!
- With Apple iOS 18, you’ll see two new features in the Weather app! You can view real and feels-like temperature information on the main screen.
In addition to these features, the WatchOS 11 update, coming in the fall, will allow you to perform interval training with pool swims and recovery support.
Also in the fall, enhanced features are coming for wheelchair users. With an update coming for both short distance and marathon use, wheelchair users can measure training loads. Finally, with iOS 18, you’ll be able to record your mood directly in the Diary app, alongside your physical condition using the Apple Watch.
The features already available for Apple Watch and those coming in the fall seem to be exciting athletes already.
